Mike's Backswimmer

This fly is a very depandable pattern, especially on bright sunny days in the Sprin and Fall. We have seen them in every body of water we have fished. Since it needs to surface periodically to replenish the air bubble that they need, they can be seen moving through the water column continually. Their fall mating flights and subsequent 'plopping' back into the water can make for very exciting fishing. During the year they are fished at almost any depth. We have had great luck putting one about 10" behind a minnow pattern when fishing for fish chasing minnows. When they are leaving and re-entering the water for their mating flights they can be fished with a floating line.
