Updated 2/13/2010

Working on a new version of the site.

Updated 12/10/2009

We have been experiencing difficulties with the shopping cart feature of the online store. As a go around, we ask that, until further notice, you please email your orders to sales@flydesk.com. Thank you.

The Fly Desk has been the source for stillwater fly fishing supplies for more than 20 years. With more and more rivers and streams being placed off limit to fishing, either through private posting or corporate leasing, stillwater fishing is fast becoming the most popular way to flyfish.

If this is your first time to The Fly Desk, Welcome. Please browse the hundreds of items we stock to make your fishing experience more enjoyable. If you are a returning visitor, thanks for coming back. We hope our new look will make your visit better than ever. Whether you're a first time visitor or an old friend, we would really like your comments about the new site. Let us know what you like and what you don't - any suggestions for improvement. Just drop us a line at webmaster@flydesk.com.

We are now having a series of fly rods being built for The Fly Desk by a company in England. These rods were recently reviewed by Today's Flyfisher magazine, and came out top on performance, even over the Sage XP. Please check them out in our Rods section.

We now carry a GREAT strike indicator – best that we've seen. The Slip Indicator slides down your line to the fly when the hook is set, making it possible to reel in ALL the line you have out. Check them out in our Fishing Accessories section.

Looking for a way to extend the life of your leaders? Check out our Leader Links. These are a link between your leader and tippet, preventing the need to clip off more of your leader's taper that you paid so much for. Simply tie one on to the end of your leader, and attach a length of tippet to it. When your tippet gets too short, simply clip the remaining piece off and tie in a new length of tippet to it. You will never have to change you leader again because "it got too short." You will find these listed in the Fishing Accessories section. They are a fast seller, but we are not having trouble keeping them in stock.

Check out our Flies section for those "must have" flies that continue to produce. Many of these "World Famous" flies have become staples in my box that I don't leave without. These are available for purchase, or if you prefer tying your own - check out the Tying Instructions page for step-by-step instructions on how to create your own. We'll continue to add and update this page with what's hot on the water. We hope to bring you instructions for new patterns as well as old reliable ones that are working well. If you have a "Killer" pattern you would like us to try and then include, send us one and we will give it a try. Maybe it will be good enough to make it into our next book.

Visit the gallery and see the success our customers have had using our patterns. Page 4 includes some of the fish caught during the June 2006 trip to Canada. If you have a picture of your "trophy" and you would like to see it in the gallery, just e-mail the picture or send a copy that we can scan (please, no originals; they won't be returned). We will be returning to Manitoba in June 2010. If you are interested in joining us for the trip of a lifetime, please let us know. We'll get you more information as the details solidify.
